When is the message best received?
“Our proper area of study is simple, timeless, human truths.”
- Bill Bernbach
How will your pursued them?
When is the right time to engage so you are meeting them where they are?
How do you speak directly to their inner-voice?
Aristotle set out the best structure for compelling communication that resonates:
Ethos: an appeal to someone’s ethical views
Logos: an appeal to someone’s logic reasoning
Pathos: an appeal to someone’s emotions
And most importantly…
Kairos: when and where someone is most receptive to the message.
Very often Kairos is forgotten but if you want your message to be heard you need to deliver it at a moment when someone is most open and receptive.
It is also essential you communicate as though you are talking to an individual, not an audience. You are engaging the narrative that is inside their head, not the body in front of you.
Above all, keep the message simple. Writing is a two step process:
Write, don't think.
Edit to its simplest.
